  • How does ClosetDrop work?
    ClosetDrop is a social platform that allows you to advertise and rent out items of clothing from your very own wardrobe. Anyone can browse ClosetDrop and see your items up for rent, but for safety and security reasons, only ClosetDrop members can view your contact details. For more information please head to our "About" page to find out exactly how ClosetDrop works. Alternatively, you can Sign Up to ClosetDrop and see how it works for yourself because it's completely free!

  • Why join ClosetDrop?
      1. It's free to join, free to browse and includes 1 free item listing to get you started.
      2. Renting out your items allows you to make money over and over again just by listing items you already own.
      3. Renting items from someone allows you to find that perfect outfit for that special event or for a night out without having to buy new clothes.
      4. Spoil yourself and buy designer or big ticket items knowing that you can make your money back by renting them out continuously or every so often.
      5. Help support and grow an exciting like-minded fashion-focused community by sharing your wardrobe and renting from others.
         
  • How much does it cost to join ClosetDrop?
    It is completely FREE to join ClosetDrop! as ClosetDrop offers a Free account to all its members. This free account allows you to have 1 item advertised for rent at anytime for absolutely no cost. If you would like to upload more items and make more money from renting out your clothes, we offer a range of membership levels starting with our Money Maker account at $3.99 a month -  this allows you to have up to 5 items uploaded/advertised at any time.

 

  • What are the different membership levels?
    Free: Allows you to upload 1 item for free at any time. The item can have up to 3 images.
    Money Maker: Allows you to upload up to 5 items at any time and costs $3.99 a month. Each item can have up to 6 images.
    Home Store: Allows you to upload as many items as you wish. This account is unlimited and costs $39.99 a month. Each item can have up to 8 images.
    Business: This is for people who are running an actual clothing hire business and have many items. This account has unlimited items and costs $139.99 a month. Each item can have up to 10 images. 

 

  • Are you on Instagram and other social media platforms?
    Yes! ClosetDrop can be found on Instagram @Closet_Drop and on Facebook www.facebook.com/ClosetDrop

 

  • How do I rent an item from someone?
    You must sign up to be a ClosetDrop user before you can access the Owner's contact details. From there, it's totally up to you to contact the Owner and discuss with them how you would like to go about the rental.

     
  • How do I contact the Owner of an item?
    You must sign up to be a ClosetDrop user before you can access the Owner's contact details. In every advertisement, you will find a "Contact Owner" button, which will require you to confirm you want to view the Owner's contact details. You will then be able to view the contact details of the Owner for that particular item. 

 

  • How do I advertise my items that I want to rent to others?
    You must be a ClosetDrop user in order to advertise your item's for rent. Once signed up, you can proceed to the "Upload an Item" button which will then take you through the steps of creating your advertisement. Don't worry - it's quick and easy!

     
  • How much should I advertise my items for?
    There is no set rule about how much you can rent your item to someone for. As an estimated guide, we suggest advertising the rental price of your item as somewhere between 10-30% of the price you originally purchased the item for (RRP). 
    For example, if your item is worth $300, then a good price to rent it out to someone for would be somewhere between $30 and $90. 
    P.S. Don't forget to work out if you are going to take a bond (amount you hold from the renter until your item is returned) or the cost of dry cleaning.

     
  • How do I pay the Owner?
    That is completely up to you and the Owner to discuss between yourselves. Most Owner's will require a cash payment when you collect the dress. Some Owner's may allow the item to be posted to you and will therefore require a bank transfer.

     
  • How much does it cost to advertise my items?

  • How do I stop paying my membership?
    If you have decided to sign up to a paying membership, to stop your monthly payments you can downgrade your membership to the Free account in your "My Account" area, under the "Membership" tab. If you want to disable your entire account with ClosetDrop, you can do so by disabling your account in your "Account Settings".

     
  • How do I cancel my ClosetDrop user account?
    If you have decided to sign up to a paying membership, to stop your monthly payments you can downgrade your membership to the Free account in your "My Account" area, under the "Membership" tab. If you want to disable your entire account with ClosetDrop, you can do so by disabling your account in your "Account Settings".

     
  • How long can I rent an item for?
    That is completely up to you and the Owner to discuss between yourselves.

     
  • What happens if I have a disagreement with the Owner/someone who rents my clothes from me?
    That is completely up to you and the other user to resolve between yourselves. If you would like to report a user or leave feedback for a user to express your negative experience, you can do so. To find out how to leave Feedback, please refer to the FAQ regarding how to leave feedback on a user or item.

     
  • How do I pick up the item I want to rent?
    That is completely up to you and the Owner to discuss between yourselves. Most Owner's will either require you to pick up the item or an Owner may be willing to post the item.

 

  • How do I contact ClosetDrop?
    Please log in to your account and head to the "Help Me" tab in your Account area. You will find a "Contact Us" form here.

     
  • What do I do if I have a bad experience with an Owner/Renter?
    We're sorry to hear that you have had a negative experience with an Owner or Renter on ClosetDrop. To help make ClosetDrop a safer place for you and your friends, please take the time to leave Feedback on the users you interact with, and their items. This will ensure that other users have the opportunity to be aware of any users who are using ClosetDrop inappropriately and will also ensure the ClosetDrop staff can review the user.

     
  • How do I leave feedback on another user/item?
    Whether you are an Owner or a Renter, you will be able to leave Feedback as soon as you have viewed a user's contact details or a user views your contact details. To do so you can go to "My Closet" then depending on whether you were an Owner or Renter in the situation, you can look under the "Who I Contacted" or "Who Contacted Me" tabs and locate the appropriate user to then click the "Leave Feedback" button. You will also receive a copy of this Feedback form in your ClosetDrop "Inbox" 7 days after you view an Owner's contact details or 7 days after a user views your contact details. 

    NOTE: You can only leave Feedback on a user and/or their item if they requested to view your contact details or you requested to view theirs.

     
  • What size photo should I upload?
    You can upload photos of any size but they must be portrait (Vertical - Up and down not Horizontal - sideways). If they aren't portrait they won't look correct in your ad.

     
  • Can I sell my items instead of renting them out?
    At this stage ClosetDrop does not offer an option to sell your item. If you sell your item and still have ads up to rent it out, please make sure you delete them. We are exploring the possibility of adding this feature in the near future.

     
  • How do I know that it's safe to enter my credit card details on your website?
    ClosetDrop uses a 256-bit SSL Certificate which ensures the highest levels of security. ClosetDrop uses the SecurePay Australian payment gateway which has the highest class of security protection.

     
  • What are the 'PEG' and 'FOLLOW' buttons for?
    To Peg an item simply means to store an item in your Account area. This will make it easier when looking for a dress for a special occasion, as you will already have a list of dresses you have pegged. To Follow a user means that you like that user's style, and want to follow their entire wardrobe. You will be alerted when a user you are following uploads a new item

 

  • How do I change my profile picture?
    Go to your "Account" area > "My Profile" and choose another image to upload. Don't forget to save the changes.

     
  • Why do I have to specify my location?
    We require everyone to specify their location in order to make it easier for if you ever want to upload an item.This helps user's search for items near them and will increase the chances of your item being rented.
